Brandon Lay Can’t Wait For a Front Row Seat on Kenny Chesney’s Tour

"I guess that's one of the perks of being on the tour is I get to have a free ticket to his show every night," Lay chuckled.

This year, Kenny Chesney will be taking out a myriad of talent when he embarks on his Trip Around the Sun Tour. Hitting stadiums and arenas nationwide, “the king of the summer” will be joined by Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion, and newcomer Brandon Lay.

Lay, who grew up listening to Chesney’s music, is more than thrilled about the opportunity to tour with one of his heroes.

“We’re just very excited. I mean I grew up a huge Kenny fan and a lot of people say that. But I think people that know me best, really know I was a huge, huge Kenny fan,” Lay shared with Sounds Like Nashville during a recent phone interview. “I had a girlfriend one time in high school. We broke up, she said I ruined Kenny Chesney for her and her whole family, if that gives you any idea of how much I’ve been a fan of him. To say it’s surreal is an understatement even though that term’s overused.”

The best part of touring with Chesney, Lay admits, is that he gets a front row seat to the show each and every night.

“I wouldn’t miss it. I mean, I guess that’s one of the perks of being on the tour is I get to have a free ticket to his show every night. Yeah, I’ve seen Kenny numerous times and he was the first concert I ever saw when he came through my hometown back in ‘01. I wouldn’t miss those.”

With this major opportunity on the horizon, Lay is looking forward to learning all he can from Chesney.

“I just remember the electricity in the room that night and then I really kind of taught me to dream big and so I remember leaving that concert different than I showed up. For any entertainer, I think that’s the bar and Kenny certainly sets it.”

Kenny Chesney’s Trip Around the Sun Tour kicks off April 21 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.
