Rather than stick to a party of one to honor his self-titled album hitting No. 1 on the iTunes chart, Brett Eldredge brought the energy to Rockefeller Center to hang with his devoted fans on the Today show on Monday morning (Aug. 7).

Eldredge took over the morning talk show as a way of celebrating the release of his brand new album. Recognizing this project as the most personal connection to him as an artist, Eldredge felt compelled to give the fans an inside look on his life at the moment through his songs and spending some time in the early hours of the day to be with them seemed like a great way to commemorate the occasion.

“This one was just the most me as an artist. The most authentic to my musical influences, my songwriting…everything just came together on this album and I just felt like this is the one that I want to plant my flag as this big record that I made that really connected. So I put my name right on the front of it,” Eldredge explained of the title in a backstage interview with the show.

While hanging out behind-the-scenes, Eldredge also answered a few quick-fire questions in ‘Musical Firsts.’ He admitted that the first time he heard himself on radio, he “almost spit the food out” even though he knew he was about to get airplay. Taking it way back in time, Eldredge even reminisced about opening for Blake Shelton at the Ryman before he made his break in country music.

Performing his massive fan-favorite hits such as “Wanna Be That Song”, “Somethin’ I’m Good At” and his new one, “The Long Way,” Eldredge didn’t let the rain ruin his parade as viewers in the New York landmark sang along to every word. He even interacted with the fans throughout his set, shaking some hands and showing his appreciation with a constant smile upon his face.

Brett Eldredge’s self-titled record is available to purchase on digital downloading sites and in stores now.
