Brett Eldredge always wanted a dog, but never thought he'd post pictures constantly of his pet... that is, until Edgar came along.

Brett Eldredge may be one of country music’s hottest rising superstars, but there is one member of his crew that is equally as thrilling for fans to see… 10-month-old Weizsla (a mix between Weimaraner and Vizsla) Edgar.

The precious pup made his debut on Eldredge’s Snapchat months ago and has quickly grown up in front of fans’ eyes. While Edgar’s celebrity-status is a surprise to the Illinois native, he’s even more surprised that he became the guy who is constantly posting about his pet.

“I never thought I would be a dog dad. I always wanted to have a dog but I was like I’m never gonna be that guy to post pictures of his dog. I’ll just kinda leave the dog out of the picture and still love him and everything but then it’s like he’s just part of my life. He’s always there with me,” Eldredge told Sounds Like Nashville and other media at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Edgar is so pumped for the super-bowl that he’s BARKING in his sleep! Who’s gonna win?!

The four-legged furbaby had adjusted quite well to life on the road and often gives Eldredge a friendly face to say hi to after his moment in the spotlight.

“I’ll walk onstage and sing in front of thousands and thousands of people and then I’ll go to the bus by myself and now I’ve got Edgar to hang out with and that’s cool,” he explained. “There’s something about a dog’s love and man, it’s a lot of fun to share these journeys with him. I took him for his first ocean swim the other day and stuff like that, you know? He still is pretty hyper at times,… but for the most part he is just an amazing dog and is still only 10 months old…he’s growing fast!”

Much of Edgar’s growth has been well documented through Eldredge’s social media and though he’s accustomed to the camera following his every move, there are some moments where he’d rather be left out of the spotlight.

“He’s very camera friendly. But there’s been times where he knows he’s getting filmed and he doesn’t like it so he’ll run to the other room. It’s pretty funny,” he explained with a hearty laugh.

It’s become more and more clear, however, that the Illinois native has embraced his dog-dad role. The singer recently threw his pup a first birthday party, complete with friends, family and special doggie birthday treats!

Everyone sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to @edgarboogie with us!!! He turns 1 today!

Eldredge and Edgar will continue touring the country together as Eldredge spends much of the year opening for Luke Bryan’s Huntin’, Fishin’, & Lovin’ Every Day Tour. His self-titled third studio album is set for release on August 4.
