Just minutes before the teams took the ice for a little friendly competition, Brett Young readied himself for the performance of a lifetime when he took on the National Anthem at the NHL All-Star Game over the weekend.

The country singer gave his best rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner following Lindsay Ell’s stellar performance of the Canadian National Anthem. Although fans gave Young slack online about his awkward timings and alternative key changes, he still took the song in stride as he added his own California country flair with his vibrato.

In the end, Young finished to a round of applause from the audience before the Pacific took on the Atlantic in a cross-division duel. The Pacific squad came out victorious from the All-Star meet-up, with a winning score of 5-2.

This wasn’t Young’s first attempt at singing the National Anthem at a live sports broadcast; he previously belted out the patriotic lyric during the Opening Day ceremonies at Dodgers Stadium, when the Los Angeles team took on the San Diego Padres in their first game of the season.

Brett Young won’t stay away from the stage for long though, as he heads out for the Life Changes Tour with Thomas Rhett in early April. Tour dates are available to check out on Young’s official website now.
