Although Brett Young calls Nashville home now that his country music career has blown up, he still represents for the West Coast as often as he can, especially during his live shows.

Taking his gig all the way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, over the weekend, Young didn’t lose his California spirit throughout his entire set for the night. Kicking things off for the country up-and-comer was Ross Ellis with his raspy vocals like that of Chris Stapleton. He played a few covers before performing music from his EP, Love on the Weekend, which got fans riled up.

It was then time for Young to step up to the plate, in which he blended together tracks to show off love for his homeland including Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” Tupac’s “California Love” and many more. After a couple more intro pieces to lead him into the energy, Young exploded into his performance with his song, “Close Enough.”

As the night went on, fans pleaded for the singer to play “In Case You Didn’t Know,” which Young prefaced with a thankful speech toward country radio for making him dreams come true.

“There are so many superstars in country music, so many that trying to get started in this industry is just kind of terrifying,” Young told the crowd. “Country radio didn’t have to take a chance on me. There is plenty of good music, but they did, they took a chance on me. So the fact the this song was even playing on the radio, I got to thank them. For that reason, the second single that we sent to country radio, it didn’t just go No.1 but it stayed at No.1 for two weeks, and and it didn’t just go platinum but as of just two days ago, it has been certified triple platinum, so thank you for also buying country music and if that weren’t enough, the song became a wedding anthem of 2017. So this is our favorite song to hear y’all sing back, so Philadelphia, can I hear you?”

Playing a few more songs to a wild audience, Young finished out his set with a glowing smile on his face for all the love he was shown despite being thousands of miles away from his true home.

Young has quite a lot of dates lined up for the spring, and fans can find out more about his touring on his official website.
