Fans and family members of Brothers Osborne attended the duo’s inaugural fan club party at East Nashville’s open-air event space the Pavilion East on Thursday, June 9. The event had fan club members sipping on cocktails as brothers TJ and John Osborne played a four-song set before meeting and taking photos with each person in attendance.

“This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” TJ shared with Sounds Like Nashville after their performance. “This is as cool as showing up to the Grammys; to be able to come here and have a room of people who are so supportive and love our music so much and are willing to come out here.”

The band decided to name their fan club The Family because they say their fans have become family. These fans have supported them since the very beginning, before they were nominated for awards or had a song on the radio.

Brothers Osborne began their short set with current single “21 Summer” and John admits he got emotional as fans in the room sang along word for word.

“Immediately I started getting genuinely choked up,” he says. “It reminded me how powerful the artist-fan relationship truly is in country music. That is something we will never take for granted.”

Many fans in attendance made sure to get tickets for the fan club party the moment they were available. As Brittney Covelusky and Shanelle Kachelries recalled, they had a text message chain going in hopes to both get access into the event.

“They’re refreshing among contemporary country,” Shanelle, a Pennsylvania native, explained. “Not that I have a problem with current, contemporary country but I feel like they’re refreshing and they have a classic sound. I like that about them.”

Meanwhile, Dorothy Burgess from Jacksonville, FL, said she finds Brothers Osborne’s music genuine and soulful, adding that it’s rooted in country values.

While Brothers Osborne have made an impact on their fans, the guys say their fans have influenced their decision making when it comes to what singles they release to radio. In fact, they credit those fans for their latest single, “21 Summer.”

Before they released their debut album Pawn Shop earlier this year, Brothers Osborne say the only way fans were able to hear “21 Summer” was during their live show. Eventually, they took it off their set list since it didn’t appear on their EP and they weren’t certain it’d make the cut for their album. However, their fans persuaded them otherwise.

“We weren’t sure we were going to put it on our record [and] people started campaigning for it and complaining that we wouldn’t play it,” TJ recalled. “It was wild for a song that you could have only ever heard if you saw us live. We knew these people were really passionate but also they were very vocal and you have to listen to your fans. Ultimately, we love the music we create but our fans are the whole entire basis of everything we do so they were the ones that picked the single.”

Brothers Osborne are currently touring the U.S. as part of Miranda Lambert’s Keeper of the Flame Tour.
