Cam Has a Plan to Win Over George Strait Fans During Las Vegas Residency Shows

Cam has had many wonderful things happen during the duration of her career, from releasing her debut album to earning a GRAMMY nomination for her smash hit “Burning House.” With so many accomplishments already cemented into her budding career, how could things get better? Enter George Strait.

The bubbly blonde has been slated to open for the country legend as he performs for his Las Vegas residency shows. The opportunity to play before such an iconic act is both exciting and nerve-wracking for Cam.

“When I go to open up for him it’s a huge responsibility. Because you’re playing for people who have… They come here as like a memory for the rest of their life,” Cam told Sounds Like Nashville on the Billboard Power Players red carpet.

The idea of standing in front of legions of Strait’s biggest fans can be an intimidating one, especially for a new act, but she knows just what to do to bring them in.

“They have great taste in music. [But] how are you gonna pull them in, you know? Like they love ‘Burning House.’ But how are you gonna tell them like, ‘I’m your pal.’ And by third song I’ll play a Patsy Cline cover, and play ‘Sweet Dreams.’ And they’re all just like, ‘Okay, you’re it.’ You’ve made it,” she said with a laugh.

Cam will open for George Strait on his remaining four scheduled dates (Sept. 1 & 2, Dec. 8 & 9) at the T-Mobile Arena. Fans can get more information about the dates by visiting straittovegas.com.
