Cam Opens up About the Thoughtful Wedding Gift She Received from Dierks Bentley

After spending two weeks touring through Japan and Bali for a spectacular honeymoon, Cam is back in the states and dishing on her special day. During a recent sit down with Sounds Like Nashville and other media outlets (the day after her return), the “Mayday” singer opened up about the touching gift given to her by her summer tourmate Dierks Bentley.

The two spent much of the year together during his Somewhere On A Beach Tour and Bentley knows, better than most, what Cam would need as a budding artist, newlywed and new home owner.

“The gift, he was kind of embarrassed about this, so I don’t know if I’m supposed to say it, but it meant a lot to me,” she prefaced. “He and his entire band chipped in and they got us gift cards to Home Depot. I just bought a house, too. I bought a house and planning a wedding and it’s pretty much two of the most stressful things that happen to a person, and also really stressful because I know it probably seems like when you have a song on the radio, you’re immediately a millionaire, but I think you guys know that’s not the case. It’s really stressful to pull it all off. He actually gave us gift cards to different home spots, and the band each gave us one of those. Then he gave me one of his little koozies that he’s got for a drink and it just had a wad of cash in it.”

The gift meant more to the California native than Bentley or anyone could truly recognize.

“I bawled because I think anybody who knows what it’s like to not have a lot of money and be stretched for cash, that’s probably one of the sweetest things. He’s like, ‘I remember what it was like when I was trying to first set up my home and my wedding. I know it’s really stressful.’ I could cry talking about it right now,” she said. “It’s really sweet and really thoughtful. He’s like, ‘I wish I was giving you a specific gift.’ I was like, ‘No, I really need this cash.’ It was really thoughtful.”
