Carrie Underwood is returning to her roots when she visits American Idol next week. Set to appear on the May 13 episode of the ABC reboot, the Oklahoma native will instill the lessons she learned from her time on the show into the final five contestants.

The “Cry Pretty” singer already caused waves during this season of Idol when she gave a first look at her new music video on Sunday night’s episode (5/6). Proving that you can always get support from home, Underwood pleased the crowd with the gorgeous clip.

In addition to mentoring Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Cade Foehner, Maddie Poppe and Michael J. Woodard, Underwood will prove exactly why she was named the season four winner when she returns to the stage to perform her latest single, “Cry Pretty.”

Since returning to televisions nationwide, American Idol has earned praise from fans and critics alike. Tuning in each week, viewers earned the show an exciting renewal for a second season on the network bigwig.

“We knew that American Idol on ABC would unleash an opportunity for singers from all walks of life to realize their dreams and that these incredible contestants would have America rooting for their success,” said Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment (quote via Deadline). “I am thrilled that Katy, Luke, Lionel and Ryan will be back to once again embark on this Idol journey with us to discover the next crop of inspiring talent.”
