Carrie Underwood Releases New Song, ‘Love Wins,’ Sends Powerful Message of Acceptance

“I believe you and me are sisters and brothers / And I believe we're made to be here for each other / We'll never fall if we walk hand in hand / Put a world that feels broken together again / I believe in the end love wins.”

Carrie Underwood is spreading a message of hope with her new song, “Love Wins.” Released on Friday, August 31, the power ballad addresses worldwide issues and a divided human experience, which can come together through understanding and love.

“Stray bullet and a mama cries / Her baby won’t be coming home tonight / Sirens screaming down the avenue / Just another story on the evening news,” she sings in the first line, before leading into a chorus that says, “I believe you and me are sisters and brothers / And I believe we’re made to be here for each other / We’ll never fall if we walk hand in hand / Put a world that feels broken together again / I believe in the end love wins.”

The Oklahoma native specifically touched on the song during a recent chat with Nashville media ahead of her Cry Pretty album release. The mid-tempo, Gospel-infused power ballad is the final track on the project, leaving listeners with a poignant message to think about.

“We weren’t trying to speak negatively about our world, because we live in an amazing world, but I feel like we get really caught up in surface things and I feel like in this world, we’re quick to get angry at each other,” she shared. “I personally think that we’re all different for a reason. I feel like if you just sit down and talk to somebody who’s not like you and keep it calm, we can all learn from each other.”

“Above all, we want people to feel hopeful,” she added. “I want to make sure people see this for what it is and what we’re trying to say.”

Fans will get more songs like “Love Wins” and the lead single and title track “Cry Pretty” with the project’s release on Sept. 14. Cry Pretty is available for pre-order now.
