Giving back to people in need has always been important to Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, so they decided to host an evening event to benefit Danita’s Children, an organization that “is dedicated to educating, empowering, and equipping the children and families of Haiti to become Christ-like leaders,” on Tuesday night (Oct. 17).

The power couple invited along emcee Elizabeth Hasselbeck and comedian Henry Cho to provide the entertainment for the night at the invitation-only benefit. As folks mingled and enjoyed a few laughs throughout the event, Underwood and Fisher raised $500,000 for the charitable organization.

“What an incredible night last night raising money for @danitaschildren This place and its staff truly provide miracles for so many children and families in Haiti. We are so honored and humbled that so many friends came out to support. I can’t wait to see how many more lives are saved and changed because of that support! Thank you to all who helped out! #blessed #haiti #nashville,” Underwood concluded about the gala.

Danita’s Children is an organization that specifically donates funds in order for kids to receive education, medical attention, nutrition help and many other life necessities. Sending the proceeds down to Haiti to help out the children, Underwood and her team hope to build their generation up toward successful futures. Underwood and Fisher have supported Danita’s Children since 2014 and continue to help out in whatever ways they can.

Underwood stands behind a number of charitable causes including MusiCares, ACM Lifting Lives, City of Hope and many more organizations. Her clothing brand, CALIA by Carrie Underwood, even donated $100,000 back into her hometown’s school district girls’ athletic program through the C.A.T.S. foundation.

For the past few months, Underwood has taken time off touring to spend time with her family, but she’ll return to the stage to perform at the 51st Annual CMA Awards. She and co-host Brad Paisley will embark on their 10th year emceeing the event together, which airs on Wednesday, November 8, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
