Carrie Underwood may be preoccupied with the NHL Stanley Cup Finals at the moment, but she’ll return as a loyal opener to the NFL this fall as the Sunday Night Football singer.

Holding down the huddle throughout the past years on the project, the country singer will come back for a fifth year as the pre-game’s MVP of all things music. The NBC network announced Underwood’s position shortly after her game talk following the first intermission of Game Four of the Stanley Cup Finals in Nashville, giving the thumbs-up for her upcoming season.

Although Underwood previously channeled her best Joan Jett for a cover of “I Hate Myself for Loving You” for the Sunday Night Football preview, she made the track her own by creating a play on her hit, “Something Bad” last season. Hoping she’ll stick to the catchy rendition, Underwood won’t be passing on her spot before the weekly sports broadcast.

News also came out recently about Hank Williams Jr.’s comeback on Monday Night Football, throwing it back old-school by returning to his ‘Rowdy’ days.

Going back to the Stanley Cup craze in Music City, Underwood lent her voice as the first country singer to take the ice to perform the National Anthem at Smashville. Following her lead, other stars such as Martina McBride, Kelly Clarkson and Dierks Bentley have all showed their Preds Pride thanks to their beautiful renditions of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
