Carrie Underwood Wins Big at 2016 American Music Awards
Florida Georiga Line and Tim McGraw were also among the night's big winners.
Carrie Underwood was the top Country winner at Sunday night’s American Music Awards, taking home the trophies for Favorite Female Artist — Country and Favorite Album — Country for her 2015 release, Storyteller. The superstar was not in attendance to accept the honors, but took to social media after the show to show her appreciation. “Thank you fans,” she gushed. “You are the best!”
Florida Georgia Line was on hand to receive the trophy for Favorite Duo or Group — Country. The “May We All” singers, who attended the show with their wives by their sides, were also on hand to present during the AMA broadcast. Taking to social media after the show, the duo promised fans that they will ” be ready to rock” in 2017.
With his beautiful daughter Maggie, 18, by his side, Tim McGraw took the stage during the star-studded show to accept the award for Favorite Song — Country for the Lori McKenna – penned hit, “Humble and Kind.” During his speech, he gave a shout-out to his wife, Faith Hill, calling her “my soul soldier … who stands beside me.” He also thanked their three daughters for being “an inspiration to me every single day.”
Also taking home an American Music Award was Blake Shelton, who won the Favorite Male Artist — Country category.
