What better way to celebrate turning 80 than to lend a helping hand and volunteer?

Charlie Daniels will ring in the big 8-0 by hosting the 80th Birthday Volunteer Jam at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on November 30. Daniels invited a few friends like Kid Rock and Larry the Cable Guy to crash the party. More acts will be announced in the next months as the event nears.

Daniels thought it’d be more fun to celebrate two huge events in his life in one day and the combination of his birthday and the volunteer benefit show came about.

“This year I combined two milestones, my 80th birthday and the Volunteer Jam,” said Daniels. “It’s pretty amazing that we’re both alive and kicking and still going strong.”

A portion of the proceeds made from ticket sales will benefit a charity called The Journey Home Project, which supports the homeless community through helpful volunteers and devoted faith.

Another milestone for Daniels this year will be his induction to the Country Music Hall of Fame, alongside Randy Travis and Fred Foster. The induction ceremony is set for later this fall.
