Making it big in the music industry takes powerful determination and the gumption to persevere no matter what setbacks get in the way. Chase Rice embodied the thriving mentality a musician needs in order to make his career a reality. But learning the ways of that type of life skill came to Rice in an alternative manner than some may believe.

Growing up with two older brothers, Rice adapted to the idea that he always had to stand up for himself during squabbles with his siblings. Because of the petty competitions the boys used to have against each other growing up, it readied Rice for his future career.

“I was the youngest brother of my two older brothers, and I remember watching home videos where my dad was trying to teach my two brothers…I was probably two or three years old, how to do jumping jacks. He was teaching them, they were getting coordinate enough to do jumping jacks and I’m sitting there…I’m mad, you can tell I’m upset, I’m trying to jump up-and-down to do jumping jacks but I can’t. And I think that’s where I got…and in the video one of my brothers looks at me and says ‘you’re not old enough to do this,’ and I don’t if I was really old enough to understand it all, but somewhere when I was young I was pushed by my dad and by my brothers to where someone tells me I can’t do something…not only am I look at you and said ‘yes I can,’ but yes, I am I’m gonna do it or try to do better than you and if I fail at least I fail while daring greatly,” Rice said recently.

Learning from a young age how to get up after being knocked down and not letting failure get to him made Rice a perfect candidate for starting his life in the country music industry. Making it as far as he has at this point, it seems like Rice isn’t looking back unless it spurs from the confidence he gained as a child with his brothers.

Rice will take that spirit on the road with him as he goes on his Everybody We Know Does Tour this fall. Dates and information are available for fans with more shows planned along the way.
