If someone asks Chris Janson about earning his second career No. 1, he’ll stick to his guns by saying that it takes an army.

The singer, along with his co-writers Ashley Gorley and Chris DuBois, celebrated the success of “Fix a Drink” on the country charts and couldn’t stop gushing about how it’s his family and friends that push him to reach such achievements. Specifically pointing out how busy life gets when the accomplishments keep rolling in, Janson thankfully praised the connection he keeps between his fellow songwriters while balancing a hectic career.

“It honestly feels better, it just means I was fortunate enough to keep the ball in the air, and I had great people who believed. If it weren’t for them, Chris [DuBois] and Ashley [Gorley], bringing me the song and the idea, and having something started, to be frankly honest with you, I take a lot of pride in being an artist songwriter, but I had no idea how busy artists got when they got success. It only gets better, and it gets busier, which is a great thing, but you find less time to do the most important things, which is make the song. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here, so I really, I’m grateful that people cared enough to take the time to do that with me. It meant a lot,” Janson said to Sounds Like Nashville and other media at the No. 1 event.

While the songwriting process can be a fun one, even Janson understands how impossible it is to narrow down time for everyone to get together based on their loaded schedules. The guys want to work together again soon to create the next No. 1 for Janson, but only time will tell when the day comes again.

“It is very challenging to find time to write songs and really put your head together with your friends,” Janson explained of the songwriting process. “Not only do they have busy schedules, but when you combine that with the crazy chaos that we travel with all the time, it’s unbelievable. I’ve been trying to get a day with Chris forever, I’ve been trying to get a day with Ashley forever, like since ‘Fix a Drink’ materialized, and it’s just hard to do.”

During the speeches portion of the afternoon, Janson threw an emotional shout-out to the people who bring him the joy to start and finish each day with a smile: his family. Tearing up over all the love that his wife and kids give him on a daily basis, the country singer defines the true meaning of a family man while still holding his own as a musician.

Janson currently performs “Fix a Drink” among other tracks during his set on the Reason to Drink Tour with Cole Swindell in the headlining spot. More information about the tour is available online.
