Reigning ACM Male Vocalist of the Year and current ACM Awards nominee Chris Stapleton is gearing up to take the stage during the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday.

We caught up with the singer, who will reportedly debut new music from his forthcoming album during the show, after his closed rehearsal to chat about returning the show after winning three trophies during last year’s ceremony. The soft-spoken Kentucky native says he couldn’t be more thankful to have the opportunity to appear on the ACM Awards again.

“It’s a treat and an honor to get to be a part of these awards shows,” he shared.

Things have sure changed for Stapleton, who went from being a songwriter and member of bluegrass band The Steeldrivers to a household name, seemingly overnight.

“It’s been a life-changing couple of years, as far as the amount of people that are willing to show up and enjoy music with us,” Stapleton acknowledged. “It’s a great thing.”

See what else Stapleton told us in the video above and be sure to tune in to the ACM Awards, broadcasting live from the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 2 (live 8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
