After suddenly postponing three weeks’ worth of shows on his All-American Road Tour, Chris Stapleton is finally updating fans on his personal status.

It wasn’t out of thin air that Stapleton decided to move his schedule around—the country musician injured one of the fingers on his right hand and stopped him from playing guitar. Although he may be down for the count right now due to the length of the healing process, he let fans know he would return to the stage as soon as he got the OK from his doctors.

“First of all, I want to thank you for all of the positive thoughts and kind words you have shared over the last few days. So many of you have been inconvenienced and I’m grateful for your patience and graciousness. After seeing a specialist, I have some information to share. I’m on the road to recovery from a broken bone & a detached tendon in my right index finger. The doctor is hopeful that with some physical therapy I will be playing guitar again soon. Right now, I can’t possibly give you guys the show you deserve. I always want to give you my very best. There is little in this world that I enjoy more than getting to make music with all of you night after night. Thank you for the privilege. Your support and understanding through all of this lets me know now, more than ever, I have the best fans in the world,” Stapleton wrote in a lengthy Facebook post.

Stapleton’s team sent out an announcement earlier in the week regarding the postponed dates beginning on June 1. At this moment, the singer will be taking time off until June 17 and won’t be appearing for his CMA Music Festival performance during the Sunday night (June 11) show.

Fans who purchased tickets to the handful of All-American Road Tour shows can hold on to their tickets for the time being, as Chris Stapleton and his team will send updates about the rescheduled appearances as soon as possible through his website.
