From Elf to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to Miracle on 34th Street, the Christmas season has plenty of films to choose from to get into the holiday spirit. For Chris Young, however, one Christmas classic was on his naughty list when he was a little boy.

When asked by Sounds Like Nashville about the Christmas memory that makes him smile, Young answered jokingly, “So not the fact that I was terrified of the abominable snowman and the claymation Rudolph when I was a kid? That’s not what you’re looking for?”

With a hearty laugh, the Tennessee native explained that while he wasn’t a fan of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the film has since become one of his favorite ones to watch.

“It’s now on my list of favorite Christmas movies. I don’t know what that means about me…” he concluded.

All joking aside, Young admitted that his favorite part about the holidays are the new memories he gets to make, especially seeing Christmas through his niece’s eyes.

“It was me, my mom, my dad and my sister for such a long period of time, and then now that there’s another family member added to it. My stepbrother still comes and we open gifts on Christmas together, but the night of, the fact that now my niece is involved in that as an extra person in your family just means so much.”

Chris Young will spend the holidays at home with his family in Nashville before embarking on his Losing Sleep World Tour on January 11 in Indianapolis, IN. Fans can catch the country crooner when this year’s CMA Country Christmas re-airs on ABC on December 21 at 9/8c.
