Clay Walker will be putting his artistry to good use as he will host a benefit concert to raise funds for those affected by the recent Houston floods.

Walker is teaming up with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Joel and Victoria Osteen of Lakewood Church for Houston Recovers, an event benefitting the Greater Houston Storm Relief Fund. The Fund helps out flood victims who suffered great loss during the horrific storms and are in need of financial support.

All Houstonians, including the mayor, hope this event will bring both donations and light to those who lost so much during the natural disasters.

“So many people in our area suffered extreme loss due to these recent floods. Many lost more than possessions – jobs, family members, homes and in some cases their livelihood,” said Turner. “It is our privilege to come together and help our fellow Houstonians recover. I thank all of the wonderful people who have made this opportunity to help others in a big way possible.”

The lineup for the event will include Walker, among various well-known Houston citizens who have been a part of the community in many ways. Those who cannot attend the concert are welcome to donate online through details given at houstonrecovers.org.

Walker, who is closely connected to the Houston area, feels completely honored to be able to give back to such an important cause to his heart.

“Houston has been home to me for most of my life.  It is an honor to help those in need by joining together to heal hearts and repair the structures that shelter so many families who make up the rich fabric of our community,” said Walker.  “This is an opportunity to do good and feel good inside by uplifting our neighbors and showing them we care and are willing to share in their struggle as we all rebuild.”

The benefit concert will be held Friday, May 20 at 8 p.m. at Lakewood Church in Houston.
