The country music community is mourning the loss of the legendary singer, Glen Campbell, after he passed away from a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. The country legend was 81 when he died on Tuesday afternoon  (8/8) in Nashville, TN.

As news of his passing began to spread, many country stars took to social media to express their condolences over the loss of the iconic act. Campbell’s daughter Ashley was among those to post about the “Rhinestone Cowboy,” who she also knew as ‘dad.’

“Heartbroken. I owe him everything I am, and everything I ever will be. He will be remembered so well and with so much love,” she wrote with a photo of her hand wrapped in his.

In addition to Ashley’s post to Instagram, Campbell’s team released a statement to his Facebook page, asking that in lieu of flowers, for fans to make donations for Alzheimer’s research be made to the Glen Campbell Memorial Fund at BrightFocus Foundation through the donation page at Careliving.org. A statement by his wife Kim will follow shortly.
