The world is in mourning since news broke of the untimely death of music legend Prince.

The singer, best known for songs “Purple Rain,” “When Doves Cry,” and “1999,” died at age 57 at his home in Minnesota after battling with the flu for several weeks.

“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” the pop icon’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, said in a statement (quote via the Washington Post). “There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
