One of the best parts of the holiday season are the traditions that come with it. Whether it be cooking, gathering with family or watching football or the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, there are plenty of traditions to take part in.

Some of our favorite country stars opened up about what traditions they love to take part in and also shared some of their favorite Turkey Day memories.

Miranda Lambert loves how excited hubby Blake Shelton gets when she starts taking out the holiday decor. “He loves Thanksgiving. That is like his favorite time of year. He loves fall and loves when I put the pumpkins out and the hay bales and scarecrows and all that.”

“Fall Apart” singer, and Texas native Casey James, loves to turn on the Dallas Cowboys game. “It’s kind of a tradition to watch the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. And hopefully this year we’ll be whoopin’ up on somebody,” he says.

Tyler Farr typically goes the football route, but he’s usually playing. “I get thrown around ’cause I was…not a lot of people in my family played football. Now, a lot of ‘em are athletic and stuff, but I’ll usually be the quarterback or the wide receiver. I’m the fast one, so I…I don’t know about these days, if I’m the fast one still. All those nightclubs and those tour dates may have slowed me down a little bit, but it’s always fun. I usually get winded after about two plays, but I’m a huge football fan, huge SEC fan.”

Forget about family togetherness for newcomer Mickey Guyton. She’s all about the competition when it comes to her favorite Thanksgiving tradition. “One of my Thanksgiving traditions is playing charades after Thanksgiving dinner. I’m not the most competitive person in the world, but as soon as you put some Charades in the picture, I am crazy, and you will definitely want to be on my team if we’re playing Charades. I’m just saying. So, that’s one of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions.”

“Leave The Night On” singer Sam Hunt chooses to stick to a certain drink with his Turkey Day dinner. “It’s strange but since I was very young I’ve always loved drinking milk – my brothers too. My cousins who grew up down the road always looked at us funny when we wanted to drink milk with our Thanksgiving meal. They would have coke. I still get turkey, dressing, a piece of pecan pie and a big ole glass of milk.”

As many people know, the holidays are also a big time for traveling, and that’s no exception for Tim McGraw and his brood. “I guess one of our traditions is trying to go to the beach. That’s kinda one of our traditions, but we try to spend a lotta time with Faith [Hill]’s parents too ‘cause they’re gettin’ older and we want our kids to really hang out with those guys a lot.”

And though a Thanksgiving eating contest may not be a tradition, we fully support Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley making it one. “One of my most memorable Thanksgiving memories was the first year me and my two brothers decided to start our annual eating contest where we ate throughout the whole day. We started that morning and weighed ourselves and at the very end of the night, we weighed ourselves – and all three of us equally gained five pounds. I wish we had a more accurate scale to decide the winner, but we all tied. Five pounds!”
