When news broke that Craig Morgan’s 19-year-old son Jerry Greer was missing, and later found deceased, a huge amount for support for the singer and his family poured out of fans and country music artists alike. It’s been quite some time since Morgan has publicly talked about his son’s death, but recently, he took to Facebook Live to thank the community for the support they’ve received since early July.

“It’s been a while since I talked to anybody. As everyone knows, we had a tragic loss here recently of our son, and I wanted to personally get on here and tell all of you thank you so much for your kind words and your support,” Morgan said at the start of the eight-minute broadcast. “It’s been amazing.”

The “A Whole Lot More to Me” singer went on to thank his fans for the letters and emails he’s received, country radio for the calls, his friends in the business and his record label, Blake River Entertainment for “the love and support, and kind and caring attitude that you guys have shown me and my family, and stepping in in a time of need.”

While Morgan isn’t full ready to talk about his son and the loss his family suffered, he did want to acknowledge that the support did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

“Sorry I haven’t called a bunch of you back,” Morgan continued. “I haven’t felt much like talking, if you want the truth. I’m not sure I still feel much like talking, but I do want to make sure that you all know how much I appreciate your kind words and concern … We love you all, and we thank you so much for all your support.”

Jerry went missing on July 10 after he and a friend were involved in a tubing accident. His body was recovered from the lake late the following day. Morgan canceled the rest of his tour dates in order to stay home with his family. He spoke out once previously with a post to Facebook, writing “We are blessed by the outpouring of prayers and condolences from across the world. Jerry may be gone from this earth, and we will miss him every day, but his spirit will live on in our hearts. We will find peace knowing that God has a bigger plan, and that one day, we’ll be reunited with him again in Heaven.”

Morgan is currently back out on the road for his American Stories Tour.
