Craig Strickland Found Dead

The body of Craig Strickland, lead singer of the Arkansas based band Backroad Anthem, has been found.

According to 40/29 News, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that his body was recovered on the shoreline of Kaw Lake, north of where his boat capsized. The area is known as Bear Creek Cove.

Strickland, 29, went missing after embarking on a hunting trip with his friend Chase Morland, 22, on the morning of Sunday, December 27. Authorities found the pair’s boat, which had been capsized, on Monday. Morland’s body was discovered shortly after.

40/29 News reports that the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s office has now determined Morland’s cause of death was drowning and exposure to freezing temperatures.

Search crews have been working tirelessly to find Strickland and Morland after they were reported missing seven days ago. Strickland’s wife, Helen, has remained hopeful throughout the search. In a recent interview she said, “It’s more painful for us to think that he could be underwater. Still, we want that closure in seeing him.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Strickland and Morland families during this difficult time.
