Iconic singer Cyndi Lauper will embark on a 27-city international tour across the United States and Europe for her 2016 Detour Tour.

The Grammy, Emmy and Tony award-winning artist will kick off the run on May 9 in Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. “There’s something so very magical about the Ryman and all the rich history there. Just to think it’s the same stage where Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline performed so long ago and here I am singing songs they made famous on this record – it’s such an honor,” said Lauper.

The tour comes just days after the “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” singer releases her Detour album, which puts her spin on class country songs from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

“When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to,” Lauper said of listening to country music in her Aunt Gracie’s kitchen. “These songs are part of some of my earliest memories so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them.”

Detour is available starting May 6.
