When Dailey & Vincent announced their Christmas album, The Sounds of Christmas, fans quickly took sight of another famous name among the track list. The name belongs to Dolly Parton, who lent her voice to the original track, “Road to Bethlehem.”

Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent first heard the song after a friend of a friend had pitched it to them. The demo featured a female voice as harmony and lead in one of the verses. The men decided to keep a female presence among their new version and aimed high when it came to their ideal collaborator.

“I sent it to her with the lyrics and… a long shot because she’s so busy, especially with Dollywood,” admitted Vincent in an exclusive video premiering on Sounds Like Nashville.

Thankfully, Parton agreed to join the Grand Ole Opry members and brought the song to life in the way only she could.

“She was so gracious to have just a short amount of time to sing for us and man, it was so good. I remember I was just crying and just so thankful that she took time to help us make memories of Christmas so special for all of our fans and for us on this Christmas record,” shared Vincent, with Dailey adding that she put her “lasting legacy” on the tune.

Parton was also thrilled to be featured on the Christmas song, saying “I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful song ‘Road to Bethlehem.’ I love Dailey & Vincent and I love how we sound singing together. I am so glad they asked me to sing on it with them.”

See what Dailey & Vincent had to say about working with Parton and how “Road to Bethlehem” came to be in the videos above.
