Dan + Shay Awarded CMT’S Duo Video of the Year
John Osborne of Brothers Osborne ran over to the the duo to give them a big congratulatory bear hug after Dan + Shay heard their names read.
Dan + Shay showed that sometimes it takes two when they took home the win for Duo Video of the Year at the 2018 CMT Music Awards for their work on the “Tequila” video.
Once the stars of Nashville read off the names of Dan + Shay, the two sat in disbelief over the moment before embarking up to the stage to accept. John Osborne of Brothers Osborne ran over to the the duo to give them a big congratulatory bear hug, and Shay Mooney started skipping merrily while passing fans by on his way to the microphone.
“Wow! I’m shaking so much. I just want to thank God for country music, this is absolutely amazing! Wow! I want to thank my wife. I want to thank my baby, Asher, who’s home right now and my family for putting up with so much bad music before Dan + Shay happened. Thank you guys,” Mooney exclaimed to the crowd.
“My heart is beating out of my chest right now,” Dan Smyers gushed, before thanking his wife for all her support over the years.
With all that Dan + Shay has done this year, it’s no surprise that they took home tonight’s award. They’ve been hard at work in the studio, and released “Tequila” among other songs like “Speechless” and “Alone Together” off their upcoming record.
This year’s nominees included Big & Rich’s “California,” Brothers Osborne’s “It Ain’t My Fault,” Florida Georgia Line’s “Smooth,” High Valley’s “She’s With Me” and Tim McGraw & Faith Hill’s “Speak To A Girl”.
The 2018 CMT Music Awards were hosted by Little Big Town, and aired live from the Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville.
