Darius Rucker Hosts Seventh Annual ‘Darius & Friends’ Concert For St. Jude

On Monday evening (June 6), Darius Rucker and special guests Terri Clark, Hunter Hayes, Scotty McCreery, Drake White, and Charley Pride took the stage at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon for the sold-out Seventh Annual ‘Darius & Friends’ Concert benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The event is the unofficial kick off to the CMA Music Festival, which brings hundreds of thousands of fans to Music City each June. In total, the ‘Darius & Friends’ event has raised nearly $1 million for St. Jude, and that’s something Rucker couldn’t be more proud of.

“What a great way to raise money for a great cause,” Rucker shared with Sounds Like Nashville backstage before the show. “I think this year we’ll go over the million dollar mark. After going there and really seeing what St. Jude is all about, just the fact that we can help a little bit like we do just makes me feel so good about what we’re doing.”

Each year the South Carolina native calls up his famous friends for the event, and this year was no different. When Clark, a fellow Grand Ole Opry member, got the call to appear, the answer was an easy “yes.”

“There’s no nicer guy than Darius Rucker and there’s no greater cause than St. Jude,” she said.

The same goes for McCreery.

“Anything we can do to help out and raise some funds and raise awareness for what St. Jude is doing…it’s events like this that I’m proud to be a part of to help out,” the “Southern Belle” singer shared.
