Though he’s held opening slots on tour for Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Brett Eldredge and more, Devin Dawson is ready to step into the spotlight on his own for his first headlining tour this winter. Kicking off on November first in Columbia, South Carolina, Dawson’s “Stray Off Course” tour will hit eight cities across the United States from Georgia to Oklahoma. An announcement about special guests is coming soon.

Fans will get a glimpse of the singer’s debut album, Dark Horse, live during the set of nationwide dates. Among those will be his new single, “Asking For A Friend,” for which he recently debuted the music video.

“Music videos have a one-of-a-kind way of elevating a song to the next level, whether that’s taking a completely new turn, twist, or angle on a song’s concept or simply driving home the song’s core emotion,” he shared. “For this video I really wanted to emphasize the story and the lyric of ‘Asking For A Friend.’ The prideful character I’m playing in this song and video is taking a round-about way of trying to apologize to his lady by asking forgiveness ‘for a friend.’ In reality, he’s simply asking for himself.”

The track examines a toxic relationship Dawson had previously been a part of.

“I was dating a girl at the time that was not a good relationship, and I think sometimes we have the tendency to bring out the worst in each other. But think I needed to realize that I needed to apologize for something,” he reflected. “It started from truth and we just told a story, and did it in the way of how I learned how to write growing up, listening to the classics and emulating that.”

While writing the track, Dawson was looking for advice as to how to handle this relationship, but now, he’s giving the advice with his “Asking For A Friend” video series. Fans can anonymously send in their questions and the singer will answer.
