Dierks Bentley & Elle King Discuss “Different For Girls” and Their Fast Friendship

When Dierks Bentley invited Elle King to sing on his new record, BLACK, no one could have foreseen the magical relationship the two would develop both in and out of the studio.

While in Nashville for the 2016 CMA Music Festival, Bentley made sure to introduce his “new best friend” to Music City, complete with several performances of their song “Different For Girls.”

“She’s so great. She drinks like Blake Shelton and she plays the banjo like Earl Scruggs,” Bentley told Sounds Like Nashville and other media backstage during the CMA Fest nightly concerts. “What’s not to like about her? She’s awesome.”

King, who is the daughter of actor/comedian Rob Schneider, was equally as thrilled (and nervous) to step outside of her comfort zone and work with the Arizona native.

“You know, I was super nervous,” she explained. “[He’s] just so dreamy and nice and make great music but it’s always good to take yourself out of your comfort zone because that’s the only way that you’ll grow and change, especially as a musician.”

Watch the clip above to learn more about the two’s fast friendship and why they’ve bonded so quickly.

“Different For Girls” is the second single from Dierks’ latest album, BLACK. It follows his recent No.1 “Somewhere On A Beach.”
