We’re just a day away from everyone’s favorite new holiday tradition… a brand new Dolly Parton movie! This Wednesday Dolly Parton is taking fans through another phase of her life with the film Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love on NBC.

The story takes viewers through ups-and-downs with the Parton family as they navigate through some very trying times.

“It’s a true story from Dolly’s childhood about a really scary time that her and her family went through and how faith, love and sacrifice got her through that,” said Alyvia Alyn Lind, the actress starring as a young Dolly. “I’m really excited to get to this movie because we can start to see a little bit more of Dolly starting to pursue her dream.”

The movie represents many of the most important things in Parton’s life, she says.

“The movie is called ‘Circle Of Love,’ and the circle represents the family circle, and the halo, crown of thorns and Jesus’ birthday. One of the stories in the movie is when we as children and dad all got up the money to buy Mama a wedding ring for Christmas,” said Dolly previously. “She had a house full of kids, and never had a wedding ring. That also represents the circle of family. There’s another part of the movie about a Christmas miracle that actually happened when we got snowbound in our little cabin in the hollow and almost died. We almost froze to death, and Daddy was gone. We didn’t have any food, and we couldn’t get out. It’s a miracle through prayer that my mama had.”

The story from the sequel to last year’s Coat of Many Colors is one actor Ricky Schroder finds to be very important to tell.

“I think it’s important to tell stories about Dolly because she’s an American icon and legend. We all know her as Dolly Parton today… the big hair, the rhinestones, you know, the beautiful woman she is, but where did she come from? Who were the people that influenced her? That raised her? That taught her?”
