After Dolly Parton made the announcement that she would be helping her hometown areas of Sevier County during the devastating wildfires through the creation of a telethon, she got some of her high-profile country friends to come help out for the cause.

Parton has enlisted the help of pals like Reba, Alison Krauss and Kenny Rogers to join in on the televised Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund, which will air on Tuesday, December 13. The telethon will go on for three hours in order to encourage those viewers to donate to families who lost everything in the wildfires in East Tennessee.

The planned telethon will benefit the creation of the My People Fund through The Dollywood Foundation, which raises money for the victims who lost property or other valuable items in the horrific wildfires. Parton hopes that the support from this telethon will give enough back into the community that she called home for many years of her life.

“My home in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee is some place special,” Parton said. “Wildfires have affected many of the people—my people—who live in those beautiful mountains. We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. I know it has been a trying time for my people and this assistance will help get them back on their feet.”

As announced recently by Parton, the My People Fund will give back $1000 a month to families whose homes have been completely obliterated by the fires in order for them to have enough to get back on their feet. Those affected in such grave terms can apply to be a part of this contribution by heading over to dollywoodfoundation.org.

For those that are interested in donating during the telethon, supporters are encouraged to call in for their support at 1-866-CARE-MORE. To make a tax-deductible contribution to the cause, people can mail in to: My People Fund, c/o Dollywood Foundation, 111 Dollywood Lane, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863.

Social media users can use the hashtags ‘#MyPeopleFund’ and ‘#someplacespecial’ to raise awareness for the damage that the wildfires have created, as well as spread the word about giving back to the community that lost everything, except its spirit.
