East Tennessee native Dolly Parton is going above and beyond to help the folks of her hometown recover from the devastating wildfires that swept the area earlier this week. According to Music Row, the iconic entertainer is organizing a telethon to support recovery efforts in and around Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

“I know there are a lot of great events being planned to help the people of East Tennessee, however, I am planning a telethon to support the ‘My People Fund’ where 100% of the money will help those who lost their homes in the wildfire. I am planning on doing this on Dec. 13th in Nashville, Tennessee,” Parton shared.

The singer announced the “My People Fund” on December 1, pledging to give a $1,000 a month to families in Sevier County who lost their homes in the fires. The Dollywood Foundation is encouraging and accepting donations for the fund through The Dollywood Foundation website.

According to the latest reports, the wildfires blazed through 18,000 acres and claimed at least 13 lives along the way. Nearly 1,400 buildings were destroyed and more than 14,000 residents and visitors were displaced due to the flames.

The lineup for the telethon has yet to be announced.
