Dolly Parton is back in the spotlight with the recent release of her album, Pure & Simple, and has some brand new original songs to share with all of her fans.

The project, which is a joint venture with Sony Music Nashville, is just another stepping stone on the path of Parton’s long-lasting and thriving career as a country music artist. One of the tracks off of the album, “Forever Love,” was inspired by her marriage to her husband, Carl Dean, and how they’ve remained together for the past 50 years.

“’Forever Love’ is a song I sang to Carl when we renewed our vows. We’ve been married for 50 years, we were on the 30th of May. We married in 1966, so we thought, ‘Well, 50 years is a long time to do anything, especially be married, especially in this business,’” Parton explained.

While she used it in a part of her vow renewal, Parton hopes other people feel the romantic meaning behind it and use it as their wedding song as well.

“I also wrote it thinking it would make a beautiful wedding song for other people,” she said.

Pure & Simple was released on August 19 and is available for purchase on digital music retailers now.
