Drew Baldridge looked no further than his lovely lady as his muse to create his latest single to hit radio, “Guns & Roses.”

The romantic ode, which sings all about the differences between Baldridge and his significant other, wasn’t made out of thin air—it came together after he noticed all the cute little details about his girlfriend and how they complement each other perfectly thanks to their contrasting characters. Baldridge wanted to make a single worthy of the hype and his relationship.

“‘It’s pretty much just how opposites attract. I’m a country boy. I wear blue jeans and boots all the time. My girlfriend loves the country, but she loves to dress up. She loves to wear high heels and a black dress. She loves looking up-class. She’s beautiful. She’s like a rose,” Baldridge explained exclusively to Sounds Like Nashville. “The top of the chorus says it all—‘I’m a 12-gauge and she’s a wildflower.’ That’s my favorite line of the whole song. I think it sums up what the song is about. It’s really cool to have a single out that’s really personal and it comes from a real spot. I think when everybody else out there hears it too, they’ll know it comes from a real spot. I think there’s a lot of country guys out there that view their girl as a rose and think that they’re playing way out of their league.”

Baldridge wanted the first taste of his upcoming album to truly represent his growth as an artist over the past couple years, as well as give a shout-out to his real life love. Accomplishing both with a simple lyric that could melt any listener’s heart, Baldridge hopes his distinctive touch in his songwriting lets fans in on his personality in an authentic way.

“As a writer, you always try to write something unique and different but still try to say something that’s real life. This song is 100 percent real, but it’s a different way of saying it, which gets me excited. I think people will really like it,” he said.
