Dustin Lynch has been spending plenty of time with Luke Bryan over the past year as part of his Kick the Dust Up and Kill the Lights tours. Understandably, Lynch has picked up a few tips from the singer while watching his show on a nightly basis. The “Mind Reader” singer shares with Sounds Like Nashville what he has learned from being on tour with Bryan.

“He’s one of my favorite entertainers, even before I toured with him,” Lynch tells Sounds Like Nashville. “I think the biggest thing that I’ve learned from Luke is just to be comfortable with who you are and not take yourself too seriously and that’s allowed me to connect with the crowd and goof off a little more on stage.”

Lynch says it’s this “goofing off” that has made him have more fun playing shows and thinks his interaction with the crowd makes it more enjoyable for the audience as well.

“Luke does not take himself seriously at all. That’s definitely what I learned,” he adds.

Though Lynch finished up his Hell of a Night headlining tour earlier this year, he says his nightly karaoke wheel where he’d select a fan from the crowd to play karaoke with him, isn’t completely in retirement.

“It’s become a monster and I think one we’re going to have to continue on. It might be a staple now at our shows,” he says. “The wheel of karaoke, it’s so much fun. We’re kind of shooting from the hip and you never know what’s going to happen when you pull someone out of the crowd. We’ve had some interesting nights.”

As Lynch’s single “Mind Reader” continues to climb the country charts, he explains it’s a song that has been around for quite some time and dates back to the early stages of recording his album Where It’s At in 2014.

The singer explains that while his team was in search of the first single off the album, they came across “Mind Reader” and put it in a pile where it stayed for eight months.

“It’s been one of my favorites and one of the crowd’s favorites,” he explains. “I love playing that song because I get to flirt a little bit on stage. It’s fun to point out somebody in the crowd and goof off. It’s a great message. I always kid that it’s a song that tells girls, ‘Hey, it’s okay if you know where you want to eat for dinner.’ Everybody always drives in circles around town. ‘Where do you want to eat?’ ‘I don’t care.’ ‘Mind Reader’ is about a girl who knows what she wants and I think that’s sexy.”
