Dylan Scott will likely write more songs about his wife after his current ode to her, “My Girl,” took the top of both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase Country Airplay charts this week. The song took a long road to the No.1 spot, but eventually landed there, marking the singer’s first-ever No.1 song.

“Growing up in Louisiana, I listened to Country radio and dreamed of someday hearing myself on the Top 40 Countdown. Not only was I fortunate enough to achieve that dream, but to reach No.1 with a song that I wrote about my wife is beyond my wildest expectations,” said Scott in a press release. “I am thankful to Curb Records, Country radio, and my fans for their tremendous support.”

The song was inspired by Scott’s wife Blair and their long-lasting relationship.

“‘My Girl’ is obviously a special song. It’s about my girl and a relationship that’s lasted almost ten years. We’ve dated since we were 15 years old,” Scott told Sounds Like Nashville just weeks after getting married last year.

The song he co-write with Josh Kerr was an instant favorite for the Louisiana native.

“I just decided to name it ‘My Girl’ and write about all the things that I get to see in my girl that nobody else gets to see,” he shared.

The song has since garnered over 40 million streams on Spotify and appears on Scott’s self-titled debut album. The track will be re-released when the project updates with a Deluxe edition, set for release on August 4.

Dylan Scott will spend much of the summer out on the road celebrating “My Girl” when he plays festivals and fairs across the country.
