It’s true to be said that there are more than enough talented songwriters to work with in Nashville. So when it comes to making a new record, Eli Young Band combines the best of their writing with the best out in Music City to find the perfect set of songs for their album.

Thanks to their natural ability to write songs as well as their deeply rooted relationships in Nashville, the Eli Young Band has been able to put together some of the best music they’ve heard in the making of their upcoming album. They always keep their eyes peeled for the next best tune and this time around, they feel like they’ve completely nailed it.

“The one thing that we’ve always said, that the best songs that are in the bucket will go on the album,” said Mike Eli. “Whether we wrote the tunes or not, it’s really about putting the best songs on the album. So, we’ve always written the majority of the records that we’ve made.”

Jon Jones feels the same when it comes to working on the album and is so grateful they’ve come far enough to go beyond the first stages of structured creativity in songwriting.

“I think we’re also at a point as a band that we’ve developed a lot of good relationships with some really great songwriters.  And when we first started coming to town, you’d kind of be thrown into, basically, like a cubicle situation where you’re just supposed to sit down and write a song.  And that doesn’t necessarily breed great creativity, but we’re at a point now where we can kind of call our friends and they can come out on the road with us for a run, and kind of push us to write as opposed to just sitting around the bus and doing our normal routine,” Jones explained.

Their first single off the record, “Saltwater Gospel,” was penned by songwriters Nicolle Galyon, Ross Copperman and Ashley Gorley. The track is available for purchase now. The release date for their upcoming album has yet to be announced.
