Eric Paslay shared a surreal yet funny story in this week’s episode of Music Row Takeover, where Paslay drives around in his truck and shows off all of the most important places to him in the area.

Before Paslay got started out in country music, he actually was a student who attended college at Middle Tennessee State University right on the outskirts of Nashville. During his time there, he was pretty involved in many of the music business programs they had there and even got to be the president of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) at the school.

While driving around the neighborhood, he started to tell a story that threw it back to his school days when he ran into Rodney Crowell, a well-known country songwriter and musician, at an event in Nashville. Rather than shy away from one of his heroes, Paslay got the guts to go introduce himself and even asked of a favor for the iconic artist: to come out to the university and speak to the group of students interested in making it in the industry.

“He came to Middle Tennessee for the very last NSAI meeting that I got to be the president of and the place was packed. There was people standing out in the hallways listening to the Rodney Crowell talk about songwriting and being an artist,” he explained happily.

Check out to see the actual rundown from Paslay of his conversation with Crowell and where the connection has led them in this week’s video. Paslay is currently promoting his single, “Angels in this Town,” which is playing on country radio now.
