Sometimes, things just happen for a reason. Sometimes, people find themselves in moments of great luck. Sometimes, the good stuff that happens does so in a reason that no one can understand and yet it’s still amazing. In Eric Paslay’s latest single, “Angels in this Town,” he highlights those almighty moments and how great they can feel.

The cool, feel-good song was recently released to radio and has opened up another dimension of Paslay’s artistic ability. This time around, his new single means a lot more to him than most and even has a personal connection along some of the lyrics featured in the new radio track.

“The first line is, ‘Hail Mary touchdown/you caught it, don’t know how/but you felt something lift you up a little bit higher,’ and that was kinda from high school days. I remember a guy went up for a ball in a playoff game and he just somehow leaped higher than anyone else and he was not the tallest guy. It was like, ‘How in the heck did he get up there?’ Just those things,” Paslay told Sounds Like Nashville.

As Paslay describes the song, he just started to notice and take in all of these random miracles that, to him, were something that happened with no solid reason behind them whatsoever. They were all “unexplainable,” and Paslay became inspired by the fact that any person can make a huge difference in someone else’s life.

While the uplifting number makes what could seem like a cheesy message into a meaningful one, Paslay also wants to put those words into action.

“We’re really excited and we’re gonna get to do a lot of really cool helpful things and hopefully encourage everybody to do something in their community to help people out. It’s mainly to encourage people to help. You know, are you an angel in this town, and it’s pretty cool,” he said.

Listeners can now find “Angels in this Town,” which will be featured on his sophomore album, Dressed in Black, playing on radio stations across the country.
