Exclusive: Jason Aldean Shares Story Behind ‘Any Ol’ Barstool’

Jason Aldean is best known for his powerhouse, anthem songs but every so often, he likes to throw a traditional, mid-tempo track in to the mix… case in point, “Any Ol’ Barstool” from his recently released album They Don’t Know.

“One of my favorite songs on the album is Any Ol’ Barstool,’”Aldean says in the SLN exclusive clip above. “It’s like one of those heartache songs, you know, relationship type songs that the guy’s trying to convince her that he’s doing fine and he’s like ‘I’m doin’ fine. I’m not drinkin’ too much, I’m not doing all this stuff. Just ask any ol’ barstool in town.’”

The song touches on heartache and the means to get over it, which follows the themes of the country music the Georgia native listened to growing up.

“It’s always cool to have songs like that on the record that are really more of a traditional type of thing because I love that,” he shares. “I grew up listening to a ton of that stuff. I always think it’s important to have a little bit of that on each record.”
