Florida Georgia Line brought the great outdoors to the side stage of the 2018 CMT Music Awards by performing their latest song, “Simple,” for the first time on television.

The two, dressed in attire similar to the title of their track, let the banjo strumming lead them in before pounding out the twangy lyrics underneath delicate string lights. Fans danced along to the hopping beat, as they crowded as close to the two as possible. Looking cool without breaking a sweat or skipping a note, FGL made the most of the song’s live debut in the faux-backyard party setting.

The duo, who won the CMT Performance of the Year prize earlier in the night, shocked fans when they dropped the new single and its B-side track, “Colorado,” without any sort of obvious hints. Although they completely wiped their Instagram page and started anew with black-and-white photos with lyrics as captions, they didn’t necessarily give specific clues toward their new chapter.

The 2018 CMT Music Awards were hosted by Little Big Town, and aired live from the Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville.
