Throwing it back to the 1920s, Florida Georgia Line kept things ‘simple’ when it came to telling a love story for the ages in their latest music video.

In a present-day vignette, a young boy finds an oversized Edison bub and brings it to his grandfather. The item clearly stirs a memory in the man, who tell his grandkids that he’s got a story to share. After a closeup on his aging eyes, the video flashes back to the roaring ‘20s and into the eyes of a younger man…and a garden party with two uninvited guests. From the setup, we know one is the grandfather, the other, we assume, the boys’ grandmother.

Awkward and clumsy and clearly out of place, the couple gets to know each other amid the disapproving stares of their fellow party guests. After a dance floor spin causes a major champagne catastrophe, the two see themselves out and head to a more welcoming scene.

Running through the woods, they find a rollicking barn dance where the band looks more than a little familiar. It’s Florida Georgia Line, providing the soundtrack for what looks to be a magical evening. Inside the barn, couples drink and dance with wild abandon–all underneath oversized Edison bulbs.

At the end of the night, the man takes his date outside to show her something he’s been working on. Telling her he had a few leftover lights from the barn, he reveals a dazzling display that takes up an entire field. His girlfriend is taken aback by the beautiful display of lights that brighten up the farmland.

The vibe of the video–and the song–resonated with the superstar duo.

“’Simple’ felt just right to start our next chapter and I’m so proud of this video,” said the duo’s Tyler Hubbard. “The ease in this song, this storyline, it’s all so reflective of where we are right now in our own lives…enjoying the little – and simple – things.”

Added his partner Brian Kelley, “With this feel-good tune, we’re going back to basics…the stripped-down roots. We’re so excited that fans are vibing with its simple nature.”

The song, which the duo co-wrote with Michael Hardy and Mark Holman, is currently in the Top 20 at country radio after being released at the start of June. “Simple” is the lead single from Florida Georgia Line’s highly-anticipated fourth studio album.
