With the recent release of their new album, Dig Your Roots, hitting No. 1 in its first week, Florida Georgia Line has felt like the fans have truly connected with this record. But even though they think this is their strongest project yet, they had trouble deciding between the large amount of songs they wrote for the project.

For all songwriters and artists, their songs become something more than just words and music. They become stories that are personal to their hearts and a message they strive to share with fans. To put their songs on the chopping block is never an easy feat and the guys of Florida Georgia Line didn’t want to leave behind any of their favorites.

“I would venture to say that at the beginning of this record we literally probably had 50 to 60 songs, maybe more, that we loved that were in the running and then as we sit down with Joey [Moi] and Seth [England] we started to narrow them down. And you know, once we got them to probably about 20 songs, it started to become really, really difficult and it was honestly kind of sad that like the fans aren’t going to get to hear this song cause it’s not going to make the record just you know whatever,” Tyler Hubbard explained.

Nowadays, the country duo is also well aware that album tracklists are like slim pickings and it’s all about the correct selection process since not many songs are included on a record. Thankfully for these guys, they made a point get as many songs as they could on Dig Your Roots to make sure that fans would really get into the vibe they were setting for this next step in their career.

“That’s why we really, really tried to put as many songs as we possibly could on this record that the label would let us put on it,” said Hubbard. “Just because it was hard to narrow it down. It was hard to sacrifice songs for the fans. We wanted as much content on this as possible, and we had a lot of ammo. So we really wanted to get it all out there and you know what though, the beauty of that is there are a lot of songs sitting back that didn’t make the record that maybe have another life with another artist or maybe we put out on a remix, or you know, who knows?”

Fans can purchase Dig Your Roots in stores and on digital music retailers now.
