Forever Country Cover Series: Lauren Alaina Covers ‘Believe’

Lauren Alaina showed off her incredible vocal range for the Forever Country Cover Series by taking on the powerful hit, “Believe,” by Brooks & Dunn.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards this November, various artists have decided to lend their voices to the likes of country covers. Each singer picked an iconic song from the past five decades of country music to put their own spin on while at the same time celebrating the song for its dominance in the genre over many, many years.

Keeping the song to its simplistic elements with merely an acoustic guitar and soft drum, Alaina used her passionate voice to capture the meaning behind the deeply emotional track. As a fan of the song since she was a little girl, Alaina could not wait to be able to take the story of the song and make it mean as much, if not more, as it did to her when she was younger.

“I am so excited that I got to do a cover of ‘I Believe’ by Brooks and Dunn to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CMAs. 50 years, that is a lot of years! That is amazing that we have been celebrating country music for that long and that these artists and songwriters have been getting recognized for all the hard work they do all year long. And this song represents country music to me. I love it so much! It’s soulful, it’s country, it has like three instruments in the tracking, which is crazy. The song was good enough to stand out on the radio that it didn’t have to be overproduced and it didn’t have to be oversang or anything. They just sang the song and it did the rest. The melody and the lyrics were so beautifully written that it didn’t have to be overproduced or anything like that. I love to sing this song and I’m so excited to do it,” she explained to Sounds Like Nashville exclusively about the cover.

Brooks & Dunn’s “Believe” came out in 2006 to an amazing response by both fans and critics alike. The song ended up winning the CMA Awards for Song of the Year, Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year in 2006.

Fans who want to get their hands on more “Forever Country” content can head to the website leading up to the 50th anniversary of the iconic country music awards show for even more video covers.
