After taking a hiatus from the music scene, former child star Billy Gilman has come back to audition for Season 11 of The Voice.

Gilman made it big with the release of his single, “One Voice,” back in 2000 when he was just 11 years old. The song accomplished huge feats for the country singer including being the youngest singer to ever get a song on the Top 40 chart and snagging a couple Grammy nominations back in the day.

Returning to the stage in order to try out for the hit reality vocal competition show, Gilman announced to his fans on Twitter that he did indeed audition. While his status on the show is unknown due to the audition not being aired just yet, he still wanted to let his fans in on the next step in his career.

“It’s official and I can FINALLY LET IT OUT! Love you all and follow this awesome JOURNEY @NBCTheVoice,” he wrote to all of his devoted fan members.

The singer instantly received loads of support from his followers and even gained some fans through the announcement.

He also took his happiness over the news to his Facebook page, where he posted a similar message of excitement to let everyone know what he was up to.

“It’s official and I can FINALLY LET IT OUT! One of the most EXCITING and crazy things I’ve ever had the honor of doing. Its been a long long hard journey to prove I am more than a child star and with this amazing opportunity it helps me stake my claim. Tune in September 19th for the official start of Season 11. I AM SO READY FOR YOU TO LOVE THIS JOURNEY AND TO VOTE,” he wrote on Monday (8/22).
