Garth Brooks is not only an incredible entertainer in country music, but he’s also been known as a loving husband and a devoted father throughout his career.

The newly-crowned CMA Entertainer of the Year appeared on the daytime talk show, The View, on Monday (Nov. 21) to gush over all things related back to his wonderful wife, Trisha Yearwood, and updates on life back at home. Discussing his choice of family over music back in the day as well as his transition back out of retirement, Brooks was very candid yet sweet when it came to talking about his adored spouse.

“I introduce her as the love of my life everywhere that we go. She introduces me as her current husband. So you can see how the relationship kinda works here,” he joked before detailing how funny and smart she is to him.

Touching about his decision to help raise his kids rather than continue on with his successful life on the road back in 2000, Brooks also tugged at the audience’s heartstrings by saying it was the right move for him and he would never change a thing.

“That was the greatest thing that ever happened to me,” said Brooks. “No offense to music, thank you for Entertainer of the Year and all that stuff. But if you’re a father or a mother, there’s nothing that beats being a parent and that’s the best time of my life right there.”

Brooks is set to release his 11th studio album, Gunslinger, on November 25.
