After landing in the hospital following a car accident on his way to a concert in Memphis, TN, Jake Stroud found himself with a package full of surprises from the artist he had been heading to see… Garth Brooks!

In February, Stroud was on his way to pick up his girlfriend for the show when he lost control of his vehicle, flipped, crashed his pickup truck and became pinned underneath. As he recovered in the hospital from two broken bones in his arm and another in his thigh, his friends and family started a social media campaign in hopes of catching the attention of the legendary entertainer.

“It would bring his spirits up,” his sister Taylor Stroud explained to WHBQ-TV. “I know he is in a lot of trouble and he wants it to be over-with–and I think Garth would make it better.”

Eventually, the trend on Twitter took off and caught the eye of the “Friends In Low Places” singer , who sent a large box full of t-shirts, hats, CDs and many other signed merch items.

“I was just shocked at as many things as he sent me,” Stroud told KNTV. “He didn’t have to do anything for me. I was just going to his concert. Shows what kind of person he is.”

Stroud is still recovering from the horrific ordeal, but hopes to make it to his first Garth Brooks concert once he is fully recovered.
