Living in Nashville, you never know who is going to show up at your front door. That’s what happened to Goodlettsville, Tennessee resident Denver Schimming when he shockingly opened the door to Garth Brooks standing on his porch.

Schimming worked up the nerve to post a sign in his yard that his birthday was on November 6 and he would work for tickets to one of Brooks’ shows. Instead of having to do any side jobs for the country superstar, he turned up unexpectedly with an enveloped gift to Schimming’s surprise. The encounter overall left a huge and happy memory for the superfan.

“He shook my hand, gave me a big bear hug, said ‘Merry Christmas.’ He said that his daughter had seen the sign and tweeted it to him, and he handed me an envelope and what do you say? I didn’t know what to say,” Schimming told NewsChannel 5 in Nashville.

Inside that letter held six lower-bowl tickets to Brooks’ show, enough to bring his whole family along to witness what goes on. Schimming decided he wanted to share the experience with loved ones and decided to invite his wife and four friends to join him for the evening out.

While Schimming did thank the singer for his sweet gesture, he also jokingly put up a new sign in his yard on Monday following the meet-up with a grateful ‘Thank you Garth!’ message.

Currently, Brooks is finishing out his massive year of touring with a handful of hometown shows at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. His final show is on Saturday, December 23, at 7:30 p.m. CST.
